Happy birthday (and happy new hair) to friend Hayley! Here are the results of a fun author headshot session we had.

Her hubby, Kirby, was invaluable as my carbon-based light stand, saving many a flash and many a Hayley from injury as the light winds kept urging my umbrella to fall over on people.

Tangent: Hey, since you’re this far down the page, notice anything different about the website? Look up! That’s right, I’ve installed a fun new sticky navigation bar to the top of happydesigns.
But enough about me. This is Hayley-day!
Canon EOS 70D · Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM
26 mm · 1/125 s · f/1.8 · ISO 200
Strobist: Canon 430EX II, 1/16 power, 5′ behind subject, umbrella diffused, remote triggered
Remember “happy new hair” from the top of this post? Well, if you don’t know Hayley, you might not know what that means.
However, for as long as I’ve known her (many, many moons), I’ve only ever known the Hayley with the lots and lots of hair. To wit:
Canon EOS 550D (T2i) · Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM
11 mm · 1/400 s · f/13 · ISO 400
That’s Hayley on the left, flinging all that hair so her sister (Marnie, on the right) could get photographic evidence that Hayley’s hair was actually a weapon.
So, after pretty much her whole life that much hair, this was a drastic change, and it suits her perfectly.
Canon EOS 70D · Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM
35 mm · 1/125 s · f/1.8 · ISO 320
Strobist: Canon 430EX II, 1/16 power, 3′ right of subject, umbrella diffused, remote triggered
Kick ass out in the writing world, Hayley!
=)
