Roller derby is alive and well.
And, Victoria’s women’s flat track roller derby team is the Eves of Destruction.
As part of their partnership with The Zone, I shoot a promo photo of them for our website and program ads, and it’s always fun times.
Picture the set: with Light Bouncer Extraordinaire™ Bryan firing the sun back into their faces with my reflector, here I am, lying on the ground with my camera, saying “GRR!” to the Eves in an attempt to evoke their scariest expressions, and half of them can’t keep a straight face while the other half are shielding their eyes.
We got it worked out for a great photo, though.

Yeah, not really in my character to stage a shot like this but, as the Eves often have sassy (see what I did there?) expressions or graphics printed, erm, there, I thought it might make a good, um, point of focus for an ad.
Right, this is going sideways. Just shut up and look at the photo.
