A bonus Friday photo ’cause you’re a wizard, Harry Jason.

This ridiculously talented young (he’s still in high school) man is Jason Verners. I first met him in 2013 where we were both attending the Hands & Feet workshop with STOMP.
He chatted casually about school and magic while effortlessly whizzing cards around in ways physics doesn’t generally allow.
The next year, he hosted the Hope for Hannah benefit concert, his magic the perfect balance (and staging distraction) with all the talented bands that night.

Tomorrow (Saturday, February 28), he’s starring in his first solo show in the Gibson Auditorium at the Lansdowne campus of Camosun College (my old stomping grounds).
Just him. No bands. It’s called . . . get ready . . . Jason Verners: Solo. =)
He asked me to shoot the show, so I’ll be there trying to capture that face that I make every time he cheats reality, only on other people.
It’ll be tough to stay focused, and not end up standing at the side of the room, slack-jawed, as he makes his trained playing cards do things only cartoons — unburdened by gravity and the properties of solid matter — are supposed to do.

I took these photos and made this post to specifically promote his show. To help on that home stretch to get people into the seats. To share what I know of this talent with people I know and people I don’t.
But I can’t do that. The show officially sold out yesterday. =)
If you have tickets to the show, I’ll see you there! If not, next time. Make sure. You’re gonna wanna see this kid in person before Las Vegas snaps him up.
=)
