The show started with Mo Kenney, from Waverley, Nova Scotia. She started off all quiet and demure, and slowly morphed into a very Satriani-like monster on the guitar. I was highly impressed.

Distrikt is a . . . unique venue in which to shoot. In front of the stage, the audience is about 4′ down. It’s like a large orchestra pit. The rest of the room is level with the stage, but at a distance. Prime shooting angles can be challenging to secure.
In this case, I thought I had grabbed a good spot between acts, until they put THIS GIGANTIC BASS DRUM in front of me just before Kim came on.

S’alright. That’s the power of having an articulating touchscreen with autofocus on your amazing dSLR. =)
I flipped my screen out, raised my arm, tapped Kim’s face, let the camera focus, and fired. BOOM. Kim seemed happy about it, too.

I had a nice wander sidestage, as well.

And around to the back of the room, where I felt like a giant compared to in the pit.

Kim is an amazing performer, especially for carrying the show as a one-person act, using foot pedals for his percussion accompaniment.
And, while the lighting was typically coloured LEDs, it did allow me to again turn a rockstar into a cop car (see Sam Roberts and Tokyo Police Club).
