This is Mike Hall, part of the “advance guard” who came to Victoria six months in advance of their show to promote STOMP, put on a couple of free performances, and put on a couple of workshops.
After the show at the Royal Theatre, I was lucky enough to be invited to an afterparty schmoozer with members of the cast.
You know that situation where you’re in a crowd of people, you see someone you’ve met, they smile and wave, you wave back, they look awkward, you turn around and see the person they were actually smiling and waving at?
That’s happened to me one too many times so, when Mike Hall smiled and waved in my direction, I turned around to see who he was actually hailing.
Imagine my surprised when I remembered that I was halfway up a flight of stairs, and nobody who wasn’t levitating could be behind me. Somehow, after three meetings over the course of one week half a year ago, this guy actually remembered me, and came over to say hi.
Starstruck much? Yeah, that’s me.

Hilarious Hawai’ian André Fernandez has been with STOMP since 1997 and, besides using his singing, dancing, and acting background to being a simultaneously funny and precise performer, he has this amazing tongue.
