Q: What’s this thing about, anyways?
A: Conceived as an exercise in off-camera lighting, portrait direction, and shooting more people (photographically!), the tattoo triptych is a semi-regular feature of my website, showcasing people I know and their tattoos in three photos.

Q: What’s involved for a tattoo-ee?
A: My ideal situation is to have a mini-session or three to end up with various poses, outfits, and locations — ideally, one wide shot, one medium shot, and one closeup (typically of the tattoo).
If possible, I feature the most loved/special/awesome tattoo for the triptych, and I like for at least one of the locations to be close to the tattoo-ee’s heart.
But it’s all really fluid. The three locations/outfits only happened with Jade and Allie, weather limited Pol’s shooting locations/time, and Kaitlyn’s shots were all done within an hour, and I didn’t even use off-camera lighting! =)

Q: Does this cost anything?
A: Not if I ask you to be one of my tattoo-ees. Also, you’ll get full-res JPGs of all the final photos from the sessions (which are usually more than the three chosen for the triptych). As this is a learning discipline for me, it’s of mutual benefit which cancels out any of that money stuff.

Q: You know they’re not technically triptychs, right?
A: Shush. It’s my website, and I’ll take creative license with the definition of “triptych” if I wanna. *thbbbpt!*
