Jade, my guinea pig/rockstar, is my first tattoo triptych.

20130205 - tattoo triptych - Jade

Happy February, and welcome to the first entry in my main project for 2012.

The idea surrounds tattoos and the people who have them. Before the somewhat cheesy alliterative name popped into my head, I always had the concept of three photos, the main focus being the one with the tattoo.

Little details like the wide, medium, and closeup shots came later, along with the differing wardrobe and locations, and the consistency (to be seen in future entries) of the tattoo shot being taken in my “stairwell studio” — literally, the white wall in the landing area leading to the outside stairs at the station.

And yes, I did say 2012. Talk big as I might about getting this done, it just didn’t happen for me last year.

I’m not much of a resolution guy but, come January 2013, I just put on some different outlook shades, and decided to be a bit more selfish. =)

One of the elements of being more selfish is to tweak commitments and whatnot to allow me a smidge more time for photography, to try new avenues of photography (improving at long exposure Lam-scapes is one of those), and to get some of my long list of projects at least started.

I feel great having finally completed one (even if it took an extra shoot to iron out the details) and, hopefully, it’ll make my next who-knows-how-many easier.

Cheese alert: it was initially “twelve tattoo triptychs,” as I’d intended on doing one per month, but I didn’t wish to pressure myself to create that many if things didn’t pan out, or limit myself to creating only twelve if things exploded. Here’s hoping I can fit more than that into my year!

Finally, I am aware that my layout may not necessarily fit the classical definition of a three-pane triptych but, as I’ve said before, it’s my phlog, and I’ll trip if I want to.

=)
