Young Miss Gwendolyn, celebrating her third birthday by enjoying ice cream cake with both her mouth and her cheek. This, by the way, took place right after an odd tradition which developed through her babyhood: placing her hand, palm down, onto the face of the cake presented to her. It’s so cute, I could just burst. =)
event ∙ Snowbirds 2006
The Canadian Forces Snowbirds fly over the skies of Oak Bay during the BC Day Long Weekend. Thanks to a last-minute opportunity, I was afforded an extra-special viewing venue for this year’s Snowbirds show: the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, immediately stage right of Willows Beach — the “main stage,” if you will. Like many others, I was treated to many …
Sport Court
An early glimpse at the new Sport Court in Central Park, while the paint’s still wet. Very striking in its blue and green colours, this court is newly opened in Central Park, on Quadra Street beside the Crystal Pool, and its construction was paid for in part by the Steve Nash foundation. The court was built NBA regulation size on …
out there
Good gack frackit it . . . how amazingly fantastic it is to, once again, be out there. I did not realize how much I missed cycling until recently hopping back in (on?) the saddle after many years. Now that we’re no longer in a neighbourhood where “bicycle outside front door = instant death,” life has opened up considerably. Since …
Cairn lily
A lily — a columbian lily, if I’m not much mistaken — in Esquimalt’s Cairn Park. Such wonderful sights, all in and around this cool little city I’ve lived in all my life, which I’m only now seeing, thanks to the fun little hobby which is Geocaching — using million dollar satellites to find tupperware. =)
Lumberworld
R.I.P. Lumberworld Victoria. A moment of silence for this Saanich landmark and the poor folks who no longer have jobs due to its destruction. Thank goodness no one was hurt. =(
whirlygig
There’s surely a more technical name for it than a “whirlygig,” but I call it like I see it: whirly and, erm, giggity-like. This whirlygig was the first of three kites flown on one string, anchored to the ground with an industrial-strength tent-peg this past weekend at Clover Point. They could be seen for miles away so, of course, being …
sunrise percussionists
Three little percussionists wander the field in which they’ll perform prior to the start of the Times-Colonist 10K. After two hours of solid, loud pounding on drums to push people past the 9K mark, these and many others in the Organized Khaos Percussion Ensemble were left with ringing ears, raw throats and blisters o’ plenty, but it was worth it …
baby gerb
Gerbera by night. =)
Simon’s forest
All quiet except for the occasional plane flying overhead. Every three freaking minutes. I’ve spent many hours in and around this wonderful forest, acting with friend Simon for his latest independent film, The Mango Chronicles: Oob-Tastic! It premieres at 8:00 pm next Friday, April 28, 2006 at Claremont Secondary School‘s Ridge Playhouse. Admission to see this wonderfully unique sci-fi comedy …
