Towers and Trees put on an amazing show, and they asked me to be there.

I’ve known most of the members of Towers and Trees since their festival debut at V.I.C. Fest in 2013, but I met guitarist Dave Zellinsky in 2010, when he backed up Vince Vaccaro performing live on The Zone.

Towers and Trees just embarked on a BC/AB tour with Vancouver band The River and The Road. They call the tour Landmarks. Get it? Towers, trees, river, road?

Dave (hey, there he is up there!) asked me to photograph their Victoria show at Upstairs Cabaret.

YES, PLEASE.

The whole night, I was ready to break out “I’m with the band,” should anyone have asked, but . . . no one asked. =(

This show gave me a couple of advantages over a standard concert photography gig: access (including anywhere on stage and the up-half-a-floor DJ booth, from where the shot below was taken) and LIGHT. Yup, I asked if they’d mind if I broke out my flash every now and then, and that was no problem.

Thanks so much to Dave and the rest of the Towers and Trees for the opportunity! Let’s do it again sometime, shall we?

I’ve got grand designs for multiple flashes (hey, it works for wedding receptions) and ceiling-mounted remote cameras. What could possibly go wrong?
