I was lucky enough to be the only photographer at Kaiser Chiefs’ first ever concert in Victoria.

They performed at li’l ol’ Distrikt Nightclub. A surreal situation, to be sure, as the band has been known to play in front of tens of thousands of fans in their native England.

Here’s an idea of the crowd for the night. Not exactly O2, but it was an appreciative crowd.

Appreciative and loud, especially from the trenches of the lowered floor in front of the stage.

Their new drummer, Vijay Mistry, was pretty hilarious.

I felt that I was able to capture a lot of very, very raw emotion from Ricky. He was always moving, and a very passionate performer.

He also had a watch which was very easy to read from across the room (and through a 200mm lens).
