Anna + Craig found me through Sarah + Matty and, despite not currently living in this city, they managed to execute a fantastic wedding from their home in Vancouver.

When I take ring shots, I ask for anything which might have a connection with my couple (see: Jenna + Brady’s game night ring shots). When I got Anna + Craig’s rings, they came complete with an invitation, some souvenirs of the places they’ve traveled, and chili peppers.

Anna had some fantastic jewelry. The bracelet and earrings she wore had just the right amount of draw for the eye, and they had fun taking photos with the shoes.

And Anna’s dress . . . wow. All these lovely little petals. I’ve shot a few weddings and, while I’ve seen fabric petals sewn between two layers of dress, I’ve never seen them quite like this. It added some real dimension to the dress.

One of the many happy moments during the ceremony, when Anna read Craig a message just for him.

Not straying far from the ceremony/reception venue of the University Club, we headed to Mt. Tolmie for the formal photos, and put the wedding party into Blue Steel Mode.

I was finally able to drag a couple to a location I’ve been wanting to shoot at for (proverbially) ever: Camosun College Lansdowne. It made the perfect backdrop for my shot of the wedding, as it were. I’ve saved the best for last. Keep scrolling.
However, for the shot below, I captured what Anna + Craig’s wedding party tended to do naturally as we went from place to place: walk like the end of an ’80s TV show intro. All that was missing was the slow-motion explosion behind them.
And these are the things which come to me while I shoot weddings.
